Emily Tolliver, Director of Communications

Emily Tolliver joined Shelter Animals Count in April 2023 as the Director of Communications and Design. After kickstarting her career in digital communications at her local humane society in 2011, her passion for helping people and animals eventually led her to run large, national social media programs at both Best Friends Animal Society and the American Red Cross.

An animal lover since birth, Emily brings over a decade of animal welfare-specific experience in social media management, graphic design, fundraising and marketing. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism (emphasis in photojournalism) from the University of Kentucky and has volunteered at shelters across the country, both as a mentor and directly in animal care.

Emily currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky, with her husband and their two children, as well as their three rescued dogs and three rescued cats. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, thrifting, reading, and soaking up quality time with her kids.
