By using full-year data for 2019, 2020 and 2021, and the first nine months of data for 2022, we have adjusted the forecast for the end of the year. Overall, we are forecasting that intakes in 2022 will be higher than 2021 and still significantly less than 2019. Outcomes are expected to be slightly lower than 2021.
There are 7.3% more animals entering shelters than leaving so far this year, up from 6% in the Q2 report (Jan-Jun). While this is forecasted to improve slightly by the end of the year at 5%, this is still the largest gap in the past 4 years.
