Shelter Animals Count is a new, collaborative initiative formed by a diverse group of stakeholders to create and share a national database of sheltered animal statistics, providing facts, and enabling insights that will save lives.
       Leadership

Alex Castelazo

Alex earned his B.S. in Economics and M.B.A. from Arizona State University. He began his career at Citigroup and American Express as a financial analyst and Business Intelligence manager. There, his interest in database management and statistical applications in business grew into a passion for data science.

At PetSmart Inc., Alex applied his knowledge of econometrics and database management to transform the pricing department into a data-driven organization. He worked to improve access to and understanding of company data and developed advanced machine learning models to predict consumer behavior.

Alex currently serves as Sr. Manager of Data Science at PetSmart Charities where he applies his skills to better understand the complex landscape of animal welfare.
